Do You Have A Maintenance Project We Can Help With?

Groundworks and Boundary Repairs, Rochester

OUR BRIEF

Our client is a major operator of social housing in London and the South East. We have been working with them for a number of years delivering cyclical bathroom and kitchen installations, as well as with project works. On this occasion, our client needed a contractor they could rely on to manage rectification works at one of their properties in Rochester where a large concrete slab had been installed in the garden causing landslip and heave. A number of their residents’ gardens were fenced off as boundary walls and fences were at risk of collapse.

OUR WORK

This project presented a significant logistical challenge since the garden in question had no access other than through the property itself which was not suitable. Our team carefully co-ordinated the works in conjunction with the client’s surveyors, the residents and specialist lifting contractors who were drafted in to deal with the craning in and out of materials.

Firstly, the site was setup to provide access to the garden in question through an adjacent property and boundary fencing was erected. Welfare facilities were installed to cater for the many number of engineers on site. The damaged boundary walls were made safe other walls within the vicinity were inspected to ensure there were no further collapse of structure hazards.

The team then set about breaking out, excavating and removing a significant concrete slab. The waste was taken away from site to be disposed of at an appropriate facility. The ground was then reinstated with earth and a compacted layer of sand to ensure sufficient drainage.

The fences and boundary walls were then reinstated in their original positions. Site was cleared down and disturbances made to fences and lawns were rectified back to their original state. Upon completion the site was cleared of boundary fences, waste, plant and welfare units and left back in its original state for the community to enjoy.

THE RESULT

We were pleased to deliver these rectification works on budget and on time for our client. This project included unusually heavy-duty lifting techniques and health and safety, as always, was of paramount importance, requiring additional site supervision during critical phases of the works. The client was pleased to have removed a source of ongoing damage to their stock as well as to have ended the ongoing disruption to their tenants.
