OUR BRIEF

On this occasion we were approached, via recommendation, by a major social care providers in London who were let down last minute by their mechanical engineering contractor. Our client was weeks away from relocating their industrial facility to new premises and they needed a reliable contractor to manage the fit out and installation of their new plant room to service industrial machinery designed to clean and launder linen and other equipment from social care settings.

Time was of the essence for this project and from the initial approach through to start of work on site was little more than two weeks. This required our teams to rise to the occasion, working with mechanical drawings to assess the challenge ahead and plan effectively to have the right people and the right materials on site in short order.

OUR WORK

This project included a range competencies and a number of skilled trades. The installation broadly comprised of:

• 3 zone heating system including 10no commercial radiators
• 3 zone warm air supply system and associated ventilation
• Installation and commission of 3 Ideal logic Max boilers with linked heater batteries
• Bespoke building management system designed for seasonal use and associated controls touch screen
• Extraction to ensure the appropriate amounts of air changing
• Thermal insulation of all pipework

THE RESULT

This plant room installation took us around 4 weeks to complete and we were pleased to deliver the project on time and on budget. As well as commissioning all systems, the client was provided with a planned maintenance schedule  designed to meet the requirements of each component’s recommended servicing schedule to ensure reliability of the installation and to maximise its serviceable life. Our client was pleased that not only were we able to fulfil their tight turnaround time under strained conditions, but that the GWD team worked cleanly, considerately and were on hand to offer advice throughout the project.

Following the completion of this project, we have been retained by the client to complete various other works at this facility and others that they operate in London and the South East and we look forward to continuing to support them with their commercial property maintenance needs in the future.
